Thanks Lg. Can you tell me how much borax, sugar and w as ter ti use? I would like to make some and set it beside the plants.
 
I have a really dumb question for you folks... I planted english peas this spring and have been enjoying them for the last couple of weeks, today when I went out to tend the garden at least 2/3rds of the plants were brown and some had already dropped their peas.

I have no idea what variety I got, but was surprised to see the plants quitting so early. Are there varieties that basically give you one crop and quit/go to seed? Or did our unusually HOT temps for a couple weeks signal them it was time to go to seed?
 
Yep, peas are a cool weather crop. If you don't pick them daily, even the peas left on the vine get overgrown and starchy/loose their flavor.

It's been ages since I've made the borax/sugar ant killer solution, but this recipe looks about right: 1 C sugar, 1/2 C water, 1 TBSP Borax: bring to a good boil to dissolve the sugar and Borax. Let cool. Keep away from children and pets, and obviously do not put it on your cooking surfaces. Borax is often sued for cleaning. just be very sure you wash all residue out of your cooking pot before using it again to cook any food!

i usually get three or four pickings, have no idea what kind, l just go to agway and buy a bag of peas, usually i think i do pretty good with those pickings cause i plant late since we're down south and peas are a cool weather plants, in fact i planted my in may and they haven't even got big enough to bloom so it might just be the hot weather we're having, sorry no help i know
