Gardening for Old Folks (Adaptative)

yes, but my insurance pays around 1,600. for its share, this is just the co-pay and no, no generic yet, but in my opinion, still better than insulin shots big pharm has you between a rock and a hard place
I have juvenile diabetes. Lots of shots and finger picks here daily. Diabetics are big money makers for the drug companies. I always say they will never find a cure because they would lose all those ridiculous profits. A bottle of synthetic human insulin runs in the hundreds of dollars. When I was a kid a bottle of pig insulin was about 10 bucks. Things have changed. I'm not sure it's any better. I will never know life without diabetes. It makes me so sad. :(

:hugs i've been watching a dr.ken berry on youtube, since i'm a type two, so far controlled with pills i have high hopes that if i can lose the weight and stay on keto i might be able to go off the pills one day, but its hard giving up flour and some veggies, so far i've been able to get my a1c down some, my family dr is happy with the way i'm progressing but its so hard to give up the bread and potatoes and along with the keto diet, have managed to lose some weight but still have about 60 or 70 lbs to go:fl

I would give up the world to be free from diabetes. Is the bread worth your eyesight? Your feet? Your kidneys? Your life? Take diabetes seriously, it kills in so many slow torturous ways. I got my knees replaced so I can keep walking.

It's so hard to suffer today for gains tomorrow, but it's the best thing you can do for yourself. :hugs Many type 2 can get rid of their diabetes in those first few months to years. After that the damage is progressive. Sorry for the lecture, I just always wished I had the option myself.

believe me i know, trying so hard to stay on the straight and narrow so i don't do anymore damage than i already have, i don't understand you being so strong since you're a type 1 and living it year after year, but maybe i do too. i try to make my own sweets when i just can't stand it any more. i made sugarfree jello for this week whenever i crave:)

My biggest advice is don't bring stuff into your house that you can't have. It's too easy to eat the junk. I also don't eat out. I personally like control over what I'm eating. For me it can be life or death.

In some ways having type 1 is better because I can eat most anything, but I need to take enough insulin to cover it. Walking and exercising helps my body respond better to insulin, and helps with weight control.

I gotta keep going. My only other choice is give up and die in short order. I got a lot more stuff I want to do, so I do what I have to do.

Walking daily also boosts my mood. I'm sure we all could use some of that on a daily basis. Living with any chronic illness is exhausting, but unfortunately we don't always have a choice.

If I can do this, you can do this. :hugs You will feel better, which will make you do better. We all make mistakes. What matters is you never give up and you keep trying to do better.

And that is one of the hard ones. Can't really go anywhere. DD1 has that problem with gluten and nightshades.

I'm sorry you have to deal with it, stuff like that gets old and starting young means decades of dealing with it. :hugs

i have to bring in stuff that i can't have, husband has to have his sweets and bread but honestly the only time the bread gets to me is when i would love to have a steak , or a tomato or a grilled cheese sandwich, which is maybe only once a year, gave up the bread unless its keto bread but even that isn't much and yes i do walk when in defuniak springs, here at the house i don't but do work in the garden and walk back and forth from the house to the garden, then back to the house a couple of times. luckily i have my fathers will power:yesss:, i just have to keep at it. you, i admire for your strength:hugs

I always remind myself that it could be worse. There are people dealing with things much harder in this world. I try to be thankful, and look on the bright side, or else I would never get up in the morning.

I'm also grateful for finding BYC. It's nice to be a part of a community of like minded people.
