I'm with @N F C on the no marshmallows or brown sugar. Great way to make an inherently healthy food very UN healthy.

Woozer! I tried growing them last year. Got about 1/2 pound of mini sweet potatoes from 3 plants. Didn't bother this year.
growing up, momma baked them in the oven and we ate them either plain or with butter, in school we had them candied but altho momma knew how to cook many things, candied was not one of them
this is my first time planting them but i remember my mil cutting one up to start slips, she always put them in the kitchen windowsill and they would take off and root, maybe she dug them earlier but she never had anything this large. mini's would have suited me fine since these are so large we couldn't eat that much at four or five sitting, much less one sitting

I can't have sugar anymore so no candied sweet potatoes and it makes stealing honey from the bees seem pointless but at least other people get to enjoy it.
sometimes i cheat and eat something with sugar, not often cause it cause my blood sugar to go up in the 200's or ever 300's, just not worth it any more, not with the cost of the medicine i have to take, just picked up one today, $485. for three months,( i pay) and thats with insurance paying the majority of it:idunno

Yep the good stuff is not reasonably priced.

Unfortunately it isn't just sugar that has to be given up. Besides sugar, the two things that I gave up that helped me the most in getting in control are bananas and potato chips. Apparently the sugar in bananas is extremely easy to get into the bloodstream. Potato chips on the other hand contain no sugar but are 100% carbohydrates which convert very easily into sugar once in the body.

The good thing is that the dressing that I put on my cucumber slices only contains one gram of sugar per tablespoon and the cucumbers are one of the best things you can eat if you are diabetic.

In our area we already had a couple frosts and one freeze. Most of my annual flowers are kaput. Before the frosts came, I took some last pix and wanted to share.
These are nasturtiums. Am collecting seeds for next year planting.

Not sure the name of this flower, but it is frost resistant to some degree. These are still blooming NOW. :thumbsup

My Knock Out roses did OK. I think in previous years, I fertilized somewhat more. Bushes were greater than this year. I cut off the winter die-back beginning in Spring.

This is My Burning Bush. Still green in pix, but today it is starting to get a hint of red.

This is a variety of KIWI plant. It has been growing in that container for 2 years. It stays outside all winter also. Leaves do fall off. No fruit yet. Maybe next year. The fruit is supposed to be size of small plums.

I will fashion a tall trellis for it in Spring.

That may be so. DD gave us the plant (she purchased from garden center ,,live plant) and it looks like there are 2 separate stalks growing. There may be one of each gender . :idunno The fruit is not all that important to me, as the flowers and foliage, look good and decorate the patio. Same with my plum trees that I posted pix of earlier in the year. This year the flowers were minimal. and fruit was NONE. My other flowering trees were also low on the flowers.(crab apple, and hawthorn) The flowering pear did have a nice bloom though.

You can tell the sex of a kiwi vine from its blossoms. Male blossoms have lots of yellow pollen covered anthers.

From my understanding, strawberries are fine.

My early blooming plum trees did poorly even blooming poorly but the late ones produced lots of plums. I made peach and plum jams with them that is awesome. I even fermented a batch which is now plum wine. It is currently about 15% alcohol and has a nice taste to it.
