What is pelleted seed? And what is dampening off? Very interested learner here

Pelleted seed are seeds encased in clay or clay like material to make them all a uniform size and shape. Makes it easier for mechanized planting. Why wally world sells them in small packs, I have no idea.

I'll leave it to one of the more experienced to explain dampening off.

It's actually damping off. One of the many answers a google search will reveal: "a plant disease occurring in excessively damp conditions, in particular the collapse and death of young seedlings as a result of a fungal infection."

Thanks rjohns! I bought all of my seeds there too. But everything came right up so I guess I didn’t buy any pelleted seeds.

Thanks R2elk. I have had that happen to my seedlings before. Good to know.

I put some red pepper on my tulips that are coming up yesterday. My ducks keep nibbling them as soon as they come up. I watched them make the rounds this morning and they left them alone! Now I just have to remember to reapply when it rains.

Well that makes perfect sense. I was kind of scratching my head as to what benefit it would have.
