Had to stock up on hanging baskets. Many of mine did not overwinter very well. They were many years old. :old
I like Ivy Geraniums. Each basket is slightly different color/variety.

OHLD, my dad always used those for his tomatoes in Denver. He found them very helpful too!
After I kept losing my tomatoes to late season frosts I decided to try them and they are so nice. A bit awkward to fill and work with but no worries on those frosty nights and I get a jump on the growing season. Most people don't get tomatoes around here until the end of July. I can start eating some years in June. Otherwise it's such a long wait. Your dad's a smart man. :)

Hi everyone! Been quite awhile since I've been on site (and missed you all!). Spring has FINALLY come to MN, it was about a month late this year, such a bummer. Hubs and I have been working on our concrete garden, and we can hopefully start planting in it next weekend. We've got some seedlings growing on the porch, as well. Just stopped in to say hi, and wish everyone a great Mother's Day. I've started a full-time job, so may not be on as much as I used to be, but plan to start coming back more regularly.

Good luck LG!! I'm not brave enough to put out things like peppers and tomatoes until Memorial Day.

Bruce, normal folks in my area don't plant until Memorial weekend. But, I've never claimed to be normal. I forget who the wise gardener was, but he said: "If you don't lose some crops to early or late frost, you're not pushing the seasons hard enough. In other words, planting early may result in crop failure, but there's the off chance that it will be successful and you will be harvesting while your neighbors are still a month or more away from harvest!!"

On the other hand, plants sitting in cold soil do little more than just sit there b/c they can't uptake the nutrients until the soil warms up. Even under my tunnels, it's not very warm. Strange season indeed.

I always plant more than I need, so that if I have crop failure on stuff that's been planted, I have some plants still in the pot to fill those voids.
