Bruce, believe it or not, this woman holds a licence that puts her in supervision over me. (though I no longer work at that place) She is from "away" where folks either had paid servants to do all of their work, or they were a paid servant. You can guess which category she fell into! But, I had, and still have a fondness in my heart for her, so did it as an act of love.

You are a good person LG :D I would have a hard time with that "servant or served" mindset. Other than with the cats of course, we all know where we fit in their hierarchy.

I know where I fit in with my cats! :gig

Your hydrangea is so pretty! Mine are doing good this year. I gave each bush a heavy feeding of compost. I let them be what ever color they want to be. See my weeds? LOL

WOW! :( That is so sad!

I was talking to an acquaintance the other day about my garden. They hinted that they loved fresh produce. Knowing they have a couple of acres, I asked her if she & her husband garden. She said "Oh no, it's too much work!" I laughed. I told her of course it is. Anything worth having is worth working for. Some people just blow my mind!

Your whole garden is beautiful- I am pea green with envy. If I were 25 years younger and had the land, I would also have a big garden. Something about digging in the dirt gives me a lift and peace - very satisfying. I am going to let the hydrangea be what color it wants- this year. I bought the stupid thing as a blue flower. Guess I need to add some things to the dirt next year. My cinderblock garden is also two high. Just right for my digging in it. I had to make a removable fence to keep the chickens out of the peppers- last year they devastated the garden. I think the tomatoes and the squash is safe- and the cantaloupe. But I am still leary of the peppers.

My hydrangea's were blue also!

Thank you oldhen, but don't be envious. I lost an eggplant today. It was fine yesterday, and this morning I walked out to the beds and it had just wilted. It wasn't too wet or dry, had an extensive root system and I even found some earthworms working the soil which surprised me. I thought it would take a while before the worms worked their way up into my beds.

I also pulled up the rest of my turnips and cooked them for supper. The heat was starting to really get to them. My lettuce is almost gone. It's just wilting in the 95+ heat.

I have some kohlrabi that is almost ready to harvest. Any ideas on how to fix them?

Kolorabi is great eaten raw after peeling and cutting into eating pieces. Otherwise I have also used it in stir fry.
