When the deer started going after twenty year old trees that I had planted, I banished them from my little oasis. I fenced in my "green area" with 6' tall 2"x4" welded wire fence. The bucks can jump over the fence but since the does and fawns can't, the bucks see no reason to jump the fence. There were a couple of incidents shortly after I put the fence up but the daytime visitors were escorted out almost as fast as they entered and very quickly stopped trying to get in. Of course the ones that crashed into the new fence at night learned very quickly also.

The real truth is I'm too lazy to fight the deer for a few apples. I wish they hadn't trashed my new little tree though. At this point in life it's easier for me to buy apples.

My husband likes that the deer are everywhere. Last year he got 2 does, and by the look of stuff this year he will get a few more come fall.

Not a single deer came in our yard for 17 years. Than one brave mom discovered the dish of corn outside for the ducks, and the acorns on the oaks, and that was the end of deer staying out in the fields.

Anyone have any experience with something eating the rose leaves and the cherry bush leaves?

I don't see any bugs or eggs. The leaves just look like they're being shredded and eaten.

The last time I was at your place I ended up with 6 chicks, not sure DH wants me visiting anytime soon But for a piece of cherry pie? Hmm...
