Gardening for Old Folks (Adaptative)

I know, those beetles have done some terrible damage! The guy at the nursery told us the same thing about the nematodes so we'll be checking that out for sure.

Yes, beneficial nematodes.
See if you can get them at a local feed store so they are fresh and refrigerated. If not you can get them on Amazon but look for a seller with good reviews. And they should come with a cold pack. And put them in the fridge till you use them.

but what kind of nematodes?
Bacillus Thuringiensis is often used to kill off JB grubs. Chickens love them but you have to dig them out of the ground first.
:wee went out this morning and picked about a dozen cucumbers, love fresh cucumbers, picked a few tomatoes and found that my yellow beans are here:ya, when i get back from taking my husband to the eye doctor(has to have a cataract taken off today, then on the 31st, the other eye) get to go out and pick a row of beans:celebrate nothing better than eating fresh veggies with a nice pork roast for a late dinner or supper.
Similar here but TOO MUCH. Had to cut 5 of the 6 cabbages, have bags of peas, 7 broccoli heads (some a bit past) and the beans just started. Not sure how I'm going to store all that. Thinking of parboiling and freezing some of the broccoli.

when i have too much to use, call a friend and either he or his wife will run down and take whatever i want to give him, he was down the other day and wanted to know if i planted beans, altho planted on the same day, green beans aren't producing yet, still blooms, and just planted kentucky wonders last week, learned to stagger my beans after one year they all came on at the same time, beans out my ears

I grew up in PA and do not miss the Japanese beetles or the cicadas. Here we have Pine Bark Beetles to kill the pine trees.

We have the pine bark beetles as well. Moths that lay the apple head lave killed out apple trees.
It just kills me! We invested all that time into growing them only to have something that stupid kill them. But the grubs were the worst here.

i wish i could let my chicken roam during the day but we have foxes and coons and maybe coyotes, husband did dispose of one coon a couple of weeks ago, out during the day even, maybe cause he had had a run in with a skunk, needless to say, i'm afraid to let them loose, lost all but two last winter while gd was babysitting them for us,trying to rebuilt the flock
