I don't think cattle panels would have any trouble holding a regular pumpkin. You may have to support the pumpkin to keep it from breaking off of the vine as it got bigger.

I grew Cherokee Tan Pumpkins. They are a smaller "sugar" sized pumpkin. My seeds came from seeds from the Cherokee Nation. They grow like crazy and are very hardy. They are very similar to the Seminole Hanging Pumpkin.



They are known to last for a long time after harvest. One family on youtube just cut open one last month that they harvested last September. I plan on roasting mine to put in the freezer and to dehydrate. DH & I cooked one in the oven with brown sugar. It was good.

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis along with Osteoarthritis. It's hard to garden on flat ground. I use cinder blocks for my raised beds. They take a bit of work to get them set up unless you have a nice level area. They hold up very well. Also gives you a place to sit and take a rest when needed. Adding arches gives me a shady place to sit when I start getting hot.

I have 6 of these in my garden. My first year to use them and I have no complaints. I have a smaller one I've used for a few years in front of my chicken coop. I will be moving it this winter to a new location.

If you don't have a lot of room, containers work well also. I grow peppers & tomatoes on my porch in large pots.

@oldhenlikesdogs ~ I've never had a knee replaced, but my Mom has had both of hers done. I understand what you are going through. I know the pain can be almost unbearable. I pray you heal quickly with as little pain as possible.

Nope, even large fowl can go through the 3rd opening up.

Both 2 foot and 3 foot keeps them out.

Unless they decide to go over! Although chickens do tend to follow their beaks looking for things on the ground.

And in case anyone is wondering I did get my second knee replaced last Friday. Lots of moaning, and crying. I forgot how hard this is. My head is a bit wonky from pain pills. Today is better than yesterday. That's all I can hope for from each day.

Only 4 days ago, pain is surely understandable! Think back to the first one and how much better life became after you healed

Over the past week, we've ended up with around 7" of rain. Most of my carrots are gone as are my beets. Spinach never came up. Over half of the okra is gone, and what is left really isn't producing anymore. Thought I'd give it (and me) another week then take it all down except for my seed plants.

On a good note, I now have 6 of my Elephant garlic coming up. Also have a ton of fire ant mounds coming up all over. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny. Time to get out the ant dope and get to sprinkling.

no, as you can see, its a old deep one, not like the new ones that are shallow. we had to keep cutting back the vines , they were taking over everything, i don't know if you could cut the vines and start more sp's or not but the vines did start putting down roots, might try that next year, in meantime have to figure out what to do with them
