My tomatoes are looking great- have already picked a bunch. More ready to go. My watermelon is doing nicely- can't wait to bite into that thing. However, my squash sucked up and died on my - why? I water, but try not to overwater, the dirt was fertilized all fall and winter with chicken poop and then left to age before planting. Back in July, they looked great. No visible animals around, so what is going on? This is the first time I have seen this - did they just die a natural death? It is too early for that, right?

I do not grow squash, and know there are sooooo many different varieties. Is this squash you were growing a variety you have had success with in the past???
The SUN has been generous with the warmth you have been receiving lately.. Do you think that may be one of the reasons :idunno

I usually just get whatever yellow squash they sell at Walmart. Not sure of the variety. I have done this every year for about 5 years. Always have had good results. Since it is a raised bed, and there are two, I alternate beds every year - and fertilize both every year with chicken poop. The sun has been warm, but I live in Texas and it really has not been a particularly hot year.

About 14 years ago, I bought a bunch of soaker hose and fittings. Somehow I ended up owning over 500 feet of soaker hose, lol. The system worked great and with the low capacity well we have at this place, I need to set up the soaker hose system to get the garden watered. Our well will not run a sprinkler...

However, I cannot find the box of fittings that I have moved twice, to Wyoming and back. It has been so frustrating that I couldn't get it set up.

Yesterday, DH said "I found a site that sells soaker hose fittings for the stuff we have" and we ordered over $100 worth - but it won't be delivered until the end of August.
