Molpet, I read that in the northern regions if you plant potatoes in the second week of June, you will have fewer potato bugs. Worth a try.
I just went down to get the paper.
I could see the garlic from the road.
I haven't had any potatoes bug problems...yet

My saved for seed wouldn't last until June
Garlic is coming up here too.

potatoes planted today before the rain.

28 huckleberry purple skin, gold flesh, skin gets brown in the sun but so far no green flesh. 2nd year growing these. Supposed to be low glycemic.

16 Yukon gold. From grocery store 5 yrs ago

28 red skin gold flesh, grocery store 5 yrs ago, don't know variety.

I have a few more to plant some other day.

My taters are flowering and falling over, stems are rotten.. I mean overnight, they were fine yesterday today no longer standing upright.. I’ve never had this happen before.. very odd
Might be bacterial ...black leg I think it's called. Do you rotate crops?

I don't put maters out until after mother's day, usually ends up memorial day zone 5

Yes always have. I haven’t planted any taters in 5-6 years..but have never had an issue at all and usually do great.. I planted 2 rows 45-50 total and the 3 puppies got in the gate one afternoon and dug 80% of them up.. so I just left what rows were still there and leveled the rest, I hill them regularly.. I haven’t dug up the 2 plants that have rotted and fallen over yet, I may do that this afternoon..

I feel bad about your tomatoes. I use a product called Tomato Tone. It prevents blossom end rot. I imagine it would help with the stem rotting, too.
Do you trim off the lower leaves ? That helps keep air flowing and keeps moisture from building up. I keep my stems bare of leaves about eight to ten inches from the ground.

Salad bar is open.. U pick, bring your own dressing.. lol B03E336A-49B1-4001-BA94-5215A40D7282.jpeg
