Gardening for Old Folks (Adaptative)

whoops, my bad. I was only one letter off. P T . Y ou say potato, I say tomato, let's call the whole thing off.
One year I had a large potato patch planted. The neighbor sent one of his boys over to plow the field next to my garden. As a favor, he swung in and plowed my big garden,,,,,potatoes and all.. lol about a quarter of an acre.
my daughter grows potatoes in tall plastic garbage cans. it works well for her.

Sounds like a lot of work to fill tires, buckets, garbage cans and raised beds with dirt and water them more because they dry out faster. I'm sure it's easier to harvest because you don't have to dig, but more work in the spring

Yes, initially it is a lot of work to fill containers. In my daughter's case, she is limited to a small back yard for gardening. For potatoes you fill the container gradually as the vine grows.
I have been using five gal buckets. I have filling them down to a science. You are right about watering.
A couple years back I had 70 buckets set up. I spent way too much time watering. I tried several "self watering" systems. Most of which did not work so well.

I remember you took the buckets in the truck bed and had them dump the soil you bought right into the buckets. I thought that was a great idea, if you had to buy dirt anyway.

I'm too cheap to buy dirt 😂 lol
