Gas up once again

Yeah but that's the point. Really screws them up on that one day, but to really make a difference it needs to be done on a random day each week for a month. I have done those days. So many don't though. If they all did it would put out the message that we aren't playing. I try to keep my tank full at all times, but I'm at half a tank now and I'll have to fill up. It was usually $3 to fill up. I hope I can get 1/2 a tanl for that today. Lowest around me is $1.65

No it dont. It hurts the store for 1 day. They have nothing to do with price. It takes at least a week to affect the oil company who has a say in price. If everyone refused to buy on Tuesday but bought what they need on Monday or Wednesday they still sell the same amount of oil. The store sees a dry day an two hectic days but the oil company will just see the hype on the news but still sell the same amount of oil when they bring that load of fuel to the store at the end of the week. They dont care how much sells on a given day an dont even keep track of it.

Non of these fasting day schemes effect supply an demand at all. You have to actually stop using as much total to do that.

If it is any comfort Canadians will be.
Some still think they need their Jumbo 4x4 on steroids to go grocery shopping in. Some of those trucks have never seen a gravel road, it is a status symbol. Hate to pay their fuel bill.

That's what really annoys me. I live in a very rural area and if I didn't have a 4x4 we would be housebound for most of the winter but then there are those that buy them because they think it makes them look cool then it hikes the price up and punishes those that really need them. They call them "Chelsea Tractors" here after the posh area of London where they are used as a status symbol rather than a utility vehicle.

Love your avatar of the Highland cattle.

Was $3.93 on the way to work this a.m., is now $4.05

I pray that won't happen. High gas prices = BAD. Gas shortages = REALLY. FREAKING. BAD.

On the long-term upside, as oil reserves drop and gas goes up, there's no doubt that the big companies are gonna see it coming and start working on developing other fuel sources. Heck, look at all these hybrids and electric cars that are being made now.

With gas prices going up the cost to ship food goes up,also we use petrol based fertalizer to grow the food as well.

This is a very good point.

Careful - if you stop and think of JUST how much oil influences the economy, you will fall into prolonged depression. Symptoms of this will include increasing levels of cynicism about the government, the country, the economy, and people generally, and a depressingly grim view of the future.

Crap. It's happened to me already.

Distances are much greater here, and we have very poor public transportation even in many urban areas. The average American can't just pick up and move, either, as jobs are awfully hard to come by right now.

KNow what?

You're right.

Now someone come up with an idea, because these companies have too much money to care. I rarely go anywhere, but I drive 2 hours each way at least once a month to go to hte cemetery. Other than that I drive my son back and forth to schoole, 5 miles each way.

OH I was pleasantly surprized just now when I filled my care. Only had $25 and figured it was going to take $30 since it was at half a tank. I got a buck and some change back
