Well, I learned a valuable lesson today. Always stuff something in any open crevices when working on an engine...or else a zip tie piece might end up down the coolant channels. I did manage to remove it with a pair of tweezers!

#3's main Christmas present focus was parts for Clyde (at his request). New battery, new tires, and replacing desert-rotted fuel lines, and he fired right up today. I love this car so much, and the boy is stoked to be able to drive him. There's nothing more fun than driving a slow car fast. Now he needs a bath and a buff.

That’s awesome! It’s great when young people take an interest in building their first car. We’ve attempted to do that with all our boys.

Tried to pick up the mini’s truck last weekend but a broken wire put it back at the shop :th maybe we will be able to finally get him driving it in 2025 😂

Shifter bushing is gone, so the box is super crunchy. We're replacing that this weekend. In a bug, there's a steel rod that runs in the tunnel from the shifter up front to the nosecone of the trans under the back seat. That has to come all the way out, the bushing replaced through a 2 inch wide hole in the tunnel, and then everything put back. It's about a 4 hour job and I LOATHE doing it.

Also have new plug wires and need to chase down an issue with the throttle cable binding. Then sync the carbs, do some other minor adjustments (valves, alt belt, nut and bolt the engine) and it should be ready to rock.
