Gender guesses on this Lavender Orpington chick?

Here was one of mine before feathers came in.

I wouldn't worry about the color being lighter. It may change when it feathers out. Are you planning to breed?
I actually considered the possibility of breeding but didn’t really plan on it. I had a broody hen and figured I would order eggs from a breed that I fancied. Lavender Orps are so pretty and fairly rare. I was happy that at least one of the twelve eggs I received hatched. If it’s a roo, I need to come up with a plan.

I don’t really know anything about breeding. Is it ok to breed siblings? This chick doesn’t have siblings, but if it did, would that affect the genetics of the bloodline?

Wow! Your chick looks like a completely different color than mine! And the comb is so much darker too. Is this a pullet?

Is it typical for Lavender Orps to look so different?
I don't know how typical it is, but it is possible I believe :) Mine looked more like her baby.

It is okay to breed siblings as long as you don't do it too many times, google "in-line" breeding to learn about the process...it's sort of complicated to explain and boggles my mind haha. I have some plans to breed some of my quail back to their own father when they mature...and I had to talk to quail people a bunch to determine how to do it and be convinced it would be okay :D

Post updates as your baby feathers out, I can't wait to see how it develops! :)

Yes, @kurby22 , your lavender babies do look like the ones that @5 Points Wingfeather posted. Interesting. What do they look like now? And how old are they?
They are almost 8 months old now! Eevee is my good boy and his brother Gibbs (green backdrop picture) now has his own ladies to take care of :-) his owner sends updates because my daughter sobbed when we had to rehome him. It’s hard getting so attached!

I took more pics today. Is the lighting any better? This chick is 5 weeks and 3 days old today. :)

What handsome boys! @kurby22
Thank you! 😍 They’re very good roosters, well behaved with my kids and the chickens. I am debating breeding him to my lavender Isabel English Orps (one of the Dashwood sisters in pic) to sell babies in the future. They would make some very pretty babies I think! 😁😁
