Gender issue...... re crowing...

I have recently started keeping chickens in my suburban backyard. I brought 2 12 week olds from a bird shop. They are now 20 weeks old. In the last few days one of them has started making a noise that sounds suspiciously like a rooster noise to me..... but I am not very knowledgeable about chickens! After asking a few friends who keep chickens I am confused! Help! Is my Agnes a girl or a boy? How can I tell?

If you could post a photo, more experienced members could take a look and tell you what they think.... Hens will sometimes try to crow in the absence of a rooster.

Do you know what breed of your chook? Some breeds are noisier than others, that may just be your problem.

The one at the left is a rooster - the one on the right is a hen.
