Hi , could anybody shed some light on what a peach male and a cameo female would give for offspring, also the opposite mating?

Am i correct that when you want to produce silverpied whit white peafowl, you need white offspring from either silverpied or white eye because they need to carry the white eye gene; someone told me white is white, but i thought it was important to know from wich birds they come, otherwise you never know wich colour they carry underneath the white gene.

Thanks for your thoughts, i think i saw a post about the genetics off whites on here somewhere from the greatily missed DEERMAN, i just can't seem to find it anymore,

Until the peach genetics issue is proven, I would hazard a guess that you would get peach females (for certain) and cameo males carrying two copies of the cameo gene and one copy of the purple gene. You may also get split to peach males, but I haven't had the chance to try it out yet. Since the peach male is carrying double copies of both purple and cameo and the hen is carrying a single copy of cameo. If you produced cameo males, they may be able to father both cameo hens and peach hens.

White can mask any other colour. For example, a pair of peach pied will produce white offspring. If you take one of these male white offspring and bred it to a indian blue, all the hens you would get would be peach split to white.

If you are trying to breed for silver pied, both parents need to carry the white eyed gene and one parent needs to carry pied and one needs to be split to (or carry) a white gene. It is always easiest to produce silver pieds from silver pieds, as over time, the breeding has produced much more white on them.

So what would be the result off Male Cameo* Peach female?

Peach Male * Cameo Female?

I f i am correct, to create 100% silverpied from a mating you would need a dark pied that comes from a silverpied pair and a white that comes from a silverpied pair or from an white eye pair that at least gave one copy off the white eye gene to this white bird, please let me know if what i think is correct,

Male cameo x peach female= cameo hens and cameo males split to purple. Remember, this is just what may happen. You might just get some males that are split to both cameo and peach or purple. I haven't had the chance to try it out yet.

Peach male x cameo female= peach females and cameo males split to purple. same info applies as above.

For silver pieds, you are correct. Ideally, to produce all silver pieds, one would take a dark pied white eyed (2 copies) and breed it to a white white eyed (2 copies). Both would ideally come from silver pieds so as to be sure of the number of white eyed genes. If one of the parents only carried 1 copy, and the other 2 copies, you would end up with 50% silver pied and 50% pied white eyed.
