German New Hampshire

WOW, today is day 14 for my NH eggs in bator. WIll be going into lock down next Tuesday. I am so excited over this hatch. Seems I haven't shut my incubators down since April or May but this is one of the most exciting times with hatching. I so want these NH babies to have a good hatch. I will check a few tonight to see how they are coming along but won't bother all of them until next week when I put them into lock down. Any clear ones will be pitched then. I'm hoping I don't have to pitch any. lol

Good luck with your hatch. Mine have quit laying, they decided that winter would be a good time to molt

I can't wait till I can hatch some for myself.

I hope you have a good hatch. If your like me you will be happy with a 50% hatch rate on shipped eggs. I've had better, but also had alot of 20% and 30% hatch rate. Seems like the more rare the breed the harder to hatch.

Just spoke with a BYC friend today that had gotten some of these same eggs and he had 11 out of 15 hatch. WOW, that sure made me feel good. Gosh if I would have that hatch rate I would go through the ceiling. ha,ha. My very last incubation, I had 15 eggs and only one at day 7 looked a little promising and on day 14 it was blood ring. I pitched all 15 eggs. The incubation before that I had 24 out of 40 made it to lock down and 20 out of 24 hatched and I have 16 3 week old bouncing buff, lemon cuckoo and BBS Orpingtons that are just doing fine.
Will post how this goes with the german line NH's. I know if they don't make it, it sure won't be because of the shipping because they had some of the best packing that could have been done.

Yea!!!!! I just received 3, 4-month old birds in the mail this morning that I bought from Banjoe. Hopefully, I will be hatching my own eggs here in just a short time! I can't wait!!!!

Congrats Chris, I saw that auction for the juvie's but had just gotten my eggs a shot time before so just passed on the bidding. I really didn't need another breed but these are some of the most beautiful birds I've seen. I am so hoping for a good hatch. I will be very proud to have some of these to work with. These NH's on BYC are all the same lines so I know they have to be nice. lol Wishing you the best of luck with your new ones. So far, everything has been looking good with my eggs. Will post any new news. lol
Jim
Oh, thanks to all for the good wishes on my hatch. lol

Thanks Jim! I was also watching the auction you won but that was quickly getting out of my comfort zone.

I had bought hatching eggs twice already and even contacted Luanne about getting eggs from her (my third try at these birds) before Christmas but she didn't want to sell them out-right she wanted to have an auction. Anyway with my two previous hatches I know I have 2 roos out of the first one and I think (not 100% yet) that I have 2 roos out of the sec one.....so buying the juvie's was the most logical choice to finally get a breeding pair of these NH's.

I have my fingers crossed for you bud!!!!!

Chris
