Mine are probably almost 2 months old now an still trying to figure out the roos.... I have 2 that have more black lacing are those probably the pullets? No obvious big red combs yet.... the 2 without the lacing are also some what bigger too.... I guess I will just have to wait.

My oldest ones will be 2 months 3/26. I have 10 that age and 12 that are 2 and 3 weeks old. I have a couple showing some lacing also. Going by combs, I am almost sure of 2 and possibly 3 male but this is just guessing. They are growing very nice and seem to be very healthy. I can't wait to see them with full color. These are some flashy birds.

I just put up some new hamp eggs up for sale here on BYC. I got chicks coming out of my ears---- must sell eggs---must sell eggs---

When it comes to color I have no idea what shad they should or not be but for style this male is flashy. Look at his head and over all symmetry he is a very handsome bird

Ken Bowels use to have these birds and showed them at Madison Square Garden in the 1940s and 50s. He took these birds from the garbage can and made them what they where to be. Meat, Eggs and Looks. This is the true meaning of the breed. They are dual purpose. If you take your eye off the looks and just breed for eggs and meat you will head right back into the gutter as people have done so many times be for. Its so easy to breed to the standard of perfection and normally if you pull the genes out right they will lay well and have plenty of meat to fit on their bones. Many say they don't show. That does not mean you don't have to breed a good all around bird to look at. bob

Guys,
Take a look at this guy and tell me what you all think of him. I've started culling my older roos but this is one that I'm really starting to like more every day. I have another one that I was going to keep that's a little younger and a little bigger than this one but like I said I keep coming back to this guy. Keep in mind I'm very green at this but I really like his tail angle and how he holds his wings. You can't see it in these pics but his tail is nice and wide when looking from behind him.

Anyway, any comments good are bad are welcomed....I have plenty roos to go through, lol.

Thanks,
Chris

And this is just some of my girls....I really haven't started looking at them yet but it was a nice day so I let them out for a little while and took some pics.
