Getting a Bunny

We (mainly I) want to get a rabbit for my kids (and myself

) for easter.
Ive seen several ads on craigslist for 'easter bunnies'.
Im guessing we are going to get one tomorrow night.
Should I get a doe or buck?
Will one be ok with its self or should I get 2?
Should I be looking for a certain breed? (I like black ones or white ones with black spots. [I do not like the ones with pink eyes..they freak me out])

I would go with a doe. Not real familiar with different bunny breeds, just ry and pick out a friendly one. Usually they like company, but if you can give it lots of love and attention, may be ok. They need exercise too, they need to run and jump and play and dig. So an outside cage you can put her in while keeping an eye on her would be good too.

I didn't mean to say cage, I meant like a fence that can be moved around on a grassy area, so they can jump and run and dig in the ground.

Personally, I think the bucks make better pets. I've had rabbits for the last 18 years and every one of my most memorable ones has been a buck. As a teenager I had a mini Lop name Bigwig and he would scratch on the cage door until I opened it, then he would jump out and follow me around like a dog. Unbeknownst to me, my parents would watch me from their bedroom window upstairs - they had never seen a rabbit act like that! Now we have a lot of rabbits and my Holland Lop bucks are such dolls- my kids carry them around like babies - even my 3-year-old can just walk up to them and scoop them up. My does get snotty when the hormones kick in.

Getting just one is fine - most of mine are in their own cage because of that "breed like rabbits" thing. I only have does that were raised together living together in the same cage. Bucks are always in their own cage unless I'm breeding them.

I think bucks make better pets and even better if they are nutered. They are fine living alone. Post pictures when you get one. I love to see bunny pictures.

good luck with getting bunnies. I agree that a buck is the way to go. Female will get tempermental when they become of breeding age and can be aggressive. All my bucks are so sweet and lovable. Enjoy.

Bucks are more docile in my opinion.
I once had ive rabbits at one time, they got along great mostly, except when the females got together , fur went flying! Ive never put two bucks together, so I dont know the result of that, but my rabbits have always preferred to be alone.

I guess it just depends on the bunny?

I'd go with a buck, doe's are much more territorial, and will probly bite ya when ya stick your hand in the cage to feed, pet, or whatever when they get older.

Rabbits arent that social and like living alone...I have 1 holland lop buck..7 months old he is very tame likes to be petted alot and loves to run around the house in a room with no cords because he likes to chew like crazy he can be held and picked up but only by me and still kicks alot even through he has be handled and held since birth...Does sometimes when sexual mature can be biters..So I would pick a buck and only 1....
