Getting a guardian puppy - any chicken<-->dog communicables I need to worry about?

How did you get him to not be afraid of the chickens? Any training tips?

Just being there with him and encouraging him when he was calm.

Welp. I'm insane. Copper's probably getting a little ES brother in May(ish- waiting on a bitch to cycle). I'm getting a black and tan one though, again from a family of dogs that have generations of being raised on a farm and working stock. Copper is the bestest dog that ever existed, and I'm in love with the English Shepherd breed.

The one and only thing I was never able to train out of Copper was to get her to believe me when I tell her everything is ok after she's alerted to something. I guess she will always be in the mood to protect, come hell or high water. I said way up this thread that I can't wait to meet 3 year old Copper, and while we're getting close, I gotta be honest, 2 year old Copper was a dream.

This summer, I'm going to find out if she wants to learn treibball.
