well you already hatched out 1 batch there & got about 50%Day 16 update
With the international date line and 15 hours time difference, even I am having trouble counting the days. Its officially an hour into day 16. Analou completed the 35 mile round trip jeepney ride for 3 fuses.
With the STC-1000 thermostat modification to the hovabator 1602N there is no tweaking that screw. just set at 37.8c and give it 20 minutes to warm up. its taken the bernie factor out of temperature control.
After an hour of solid 99.6f the quail eggs were placed in the bator. humidity has been steadily at 50% through the first 15 days so we will wait for chirping before we wp the humidity.
We have power outage contingency plans. no sign of ants, steady temps. There is not much more we can do but cross our fingers.

my two hovobators tend to swing +/- 2fI have not got into the cool down thing. I am doing my best to replicate or improve on the first hatch, using attempt two as an educational experience.
When I was in control of the incubators, I did not have to fiddle with the thermostat. It was surprisingly stable. I feel that noobs and Bernie get so involved that they cant help but to adjust - and over think it. I put the digital thermostats on because I am not there to stop the tweaking. When Mrs Oz was home for the hatch last time, she found the lock screws on the thermostats loose,
In my mix of chooks in the Phils I have 7 BLR Wyandottes. I will separate them this trip and start to collect eggs for incubation. We will attempt to hatch every week between mid July and the end of August. That way we have a better understanding of hatching techniques we need to apply in the tropics.
OGM!!! I have missed you!Love itexciting stuff my friend!!![]()
seems like you cracked the secret of hovabators. dont frig with themmy two hovobators tend to swing +/- 2f
at 1st i would mess with them
i figured out that i was causing the spikes to be even higher than when i just let them be
so now i just get them rite or even 1f low & let them do their deal.
