Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

I know!! I have some beautiful chickens right now, many from all your gift hatches :) my birthday chicks are all pairs! Such wonderful luck!

Dad has been really sick since his surgery at the beginning of October. Surgery, multiple hospital stays, many complications :( life has been chaotic. He is home as of last Friday from his latest illness and we are taking care of him. So the chickens have returned to their original purpose of my therapy chickens:) feeding the animals is sometimes my only respite during the day. Wouldn't have it any.other way, but caretaking my dad and taking care of my kids and the little homestead has me exhausted right now. But I missed you guys. Fate crossed our paths, and I now have babies in the phils :)

Thanks for putting a smile on my face today

I'm Up to 6 silver penciled rock gals. 4 roos, two will go. One is just fantastic,
beautiful marking.
I have two beautiful Andalusian pullets from HFR but no roo for them.

My hrir program is back at square one. After moving them to a "safer" pen late September, lost all my hens/pullets to coyotes. The hardware cloth which was so sturdy was literally pulled off the frame. Still have the two roos, rose and single comb. And one of their sons that is looking gorgeous. I'll order eggs from Mr horstman and start again in spring.

So I'm gonna need a few more pens :)

Sorry about the loss!! I am real fond of chain-link (not the light weight stuff in cheap dog kennels, the real good stuff that will not bend with out a big tool)

OGM actually was the chick "rescue" for me.

As I was learning to hatch, I hatched every egg I could. If I could not sell them on day 1-3, the remainder would go for a drve to Valley Center.

I knew OGM had a thing for fluffy headed chickens so when I saw the Houdans at a bargain price on ebay......

It looks like I ham going to have to go out there for a drive and check up on them
