I guess after Facebook this site has seemed incredibly warm and kind. As a human doctor with ample experience working for small vets, I get frustrated sometimes when holistic "treatments" which are not medically proven are shoved down new people's throats. I feel obligated to present a person with a choice, but instead of presenting it as "right", I always try to give the medical rationale for why a treatment is a good option. And I try to offer a veterinary article with gentle support of the medical treatment. Ultimately, people will always make their own choice. I try very hard not to ever be rude.
I will confess that when people come on and post horrific photos of their slaughtered flocks, begging for sympathy, and mention there were numerous attacks before the final slaughter, my love for the poor unprotected animals (and anger at the lack of caring from their human protectors), may have made me show less than enthusiastic compassion. I still try to provide constructive suggestions for how to remedy the situation so it never happens again, mainly because if it KEEPS happening they will leave poultry, and that's a shame. This does not apply to people who have a first attack or are clearly not understanding the level of protection they must provide to keep a flock truly safe. Most days I try to steer clear of the "slaughter" posts LOL
