Giant Silkie Project.

Oh, yeah. My Project Giant Silkie boy is only 2 months old, & is already practicing crowing, & started trying to breed.

Do you have to breed him when he gets older, or can you use him with the big silkie hens to breed right now?

There is no such thing as *n* chickens. It is always *n* + a "few".

Space concerns mean I ACTUALLY have to stop at 6....no chicken math for me If I was able to, I'd gladly have 20!

Are you guys using Hedemoras in your project? They get big and quite a few are 'wooly' (have silkie - like feathers) I have one and he's awesome.

I never heard of that breed.

I'm gonna probably wait until next spring to back cross him to a large silkie hen, & make more Brahma/Silkie crosses for the project.

How big do they get?

They are a smaller breed, but not a bantam. I would say about the size of a Plymouth Rock. They are pretty rare but I finally found some after a long search.
