Ginormous Egg!

So Natalie, my Barnevelder laid the biggest (chicken) egg I have ever seen in my life today!

The other two eggs are from my Wyandottes. I am sure this is a double yolker, but its so beautiful, and she must have put so much energy and effort into it, I don't have the heart to crack it open just yet

Ouch! My RIRs lay some of the biggest I've seen and since I'm so new to this, it makes me very happy, too!! Great job to your girl!

She seems to be alright

I guess this means she's definitely getting the nutrition that she needs! I wonder what causes some chickens to lay godzilla eggs?!

How old is the girl? I read that the older the chicken, the bigger the egg. But I wasn't aware that chickens can lay various size eggs on different days - I assumed they would be pretty standard day in and day out. Amazing, isn't it?!!

I'm not for sure, but I think she's around ten months, but I just got her a little over a couple of weeks ago. I got her from a lady on craigslist, and I'm a nube, so it's very possible that I could have misunderstood or was lied to in regards to her age. But, she's laid three eggs since Friday (fri, sun, tue) so hopefully that's a good sign that she's still fairly young.

Oh, and I cracked it open today, and inside were two huge yolks! My mom was totally grossed out.

When ours lay huge eggs we usually have a double-yolker!

ours were laying some pretty big ones a few months ago, but not that big! lol that is awesome! let us know if it was a double (or more) yolk
