I have one Dominique that I got by accident and I really like him, so I am told it is a him. I am very interested in the breed and would like to hear from others that own them as to their temperment as I would like to get more of them. Also wondering if they are good layers. Some pics would be great too.
Thanks

I have 2 Dominique hens. I just love em. They are very sweet and have a great disposition. And there's so much history with them. I hope to get more some day.

According to Henderson's Breed Chart, they are good layers.

My dh used to joke that our Dominique hen, Abigail, worked for the postal service - she was outside in all kinds of weather. We had to chase her inside the barn during lightening, blizzards, and tornado watches....

She is now part of Quail_Antwerp's flocks.

well I have 4, they are only 17 weeks, so not laying yet, but soon I hope.Out of all my chicks, they are the most unfriendly. I have handled them all since day 3. They don't like to be touched, and when getting treats they peck very hard, so the kids don't like being in the coop with them. I have found they are also feather pickers. I had ordered marans, and got these instead, but I am hoping to at least appreciate their eggs in a bit.

There must be more of you out there that can give me your opinion. I really like the breed and am looking for more but just was looking for more info on them.

i have one that is 16 weeks old and she is the most agrresive one in the whole flock sheeven bets out the amaracana rooster i have but she loves people

Go to Amazon.com and look for a book by Mark Fields on the breed. He had the best in the nation at one time and his book will give you all the info you could want.
