Gnats killing birds

Thank you for posting this. I've lost 3. The hanging fly strips caught bunches of those nasties. Buffalo gnats. Now I know.

@sumi I think this is a good candidate for a “Featured Thread”. I would bet a very large percentage of our members would not know about the dangers of buffalo gnats.

So sorry for your loss. A couple of years ago I lost 2 hens to the gnats. I now hang shade cloth over the hardwarecloth to shade the area as well as vanilla scented car fresheners hung all around during gnat season. They also drive the horses crazy and they run to get away from them. One of my mares tripped and fell, broke her shoulder. Though the gnats didnt kill her directly, I still consider her death to be from them. Horses now stay in during the day until gnats are gone.
