Goat Emergency! HELP PLEASE

We had to get a vet out to our house, after 5 on a friday evening, we were freaking out about how much it would cost us, he gave our goat a shot, and left another one to use in two days.... the cost $25.

livestock vets tend to be less expensive than regular vets. If you have goats or sheep, a livestock vet or two should be in your rolodex.

I know we got a great deal, he's an OLD guy, in his beat up truck, deals mostly with cattle out here in the farming community. We've heard via friends that he doesn't "like" taking care of dogs and cats etc... this was our first dealing with him, we took our dog to the next town 60 miles away to get fixed. (because of tips from friends)

The price was honestly scaring me a bit because the vet out here (for dogs, cats, etc) wanted almost $400 for two of my dogs to get annual shots

I have also found that if you go to the vet for a rabies and tell them you don't want the office visit, they will just give your dog the rabies shot. Much cheaper. Last time a tech just came into the waiting room and injected them there.

At my house, that gun would be for the dog. Dogs are for protection out here where I live.

We trade services with our vet. She helps us with the animals and we mow her lawn and do other handyman stuff around her house that she can't. If you get a good report going with a vet they might even let you make payments if you ever have an emergency again.
