My little 6 wk old I thought it was a hen Royal Palm was gobbling today. I heard a gobble and thought it was the bbw that has been displaying. So I whistled and the RP answered me!

My Narragansetts started gobbling at about that age too. My 4 year old daughter crows like a roo at them and the whole flock (11) gobble back at her. So I think both sexes gobble. I have 6 that puff up and strut, so I'm hoping that means the remaining ones are hens. Sheesh! Why is it so hard to sex a turkey?!

Hi Jen!!!!!

I have 2 turkey eggs on Day 28 in my incubator right now.
Oh, I hope they hatch. We want to replace our sweet turkey that passed away.

Isn't it neat to hear them gobble!!!!!

Haha. Aren't turkeys funny?

I have a 5 or 6 week old royal palm crossed with a bourbon red that struts around in his brooder and makes the "spitting" sound when his wings touch the ground. Fingers crossed that it's a gobbler, because I only have 1 male outside and I'd like another,

Sometimes if you put a strange object in their pen for them to investigate the toms will start strutting and gobbling and hitting the object w/it's wings. It helps me tell sometimes because even my hens will strut but not use their wings to hit.
