God hates me this year

I'm sorry you're having a tough time. As if we all need anything else to go wrong in our lives at this time right! I, thankfully, haven't had to deal with bumblefoot ....yet but I know @Miss Lydia is a pro at it and will help you so that maybe you don't have to drive to the vet. She's got it down pretty good it seems.

I’ll wait till we see some pics to say what I’d do, but I def know how over whelming it can be to have multiple bumbles. Last year was the worst for me and my flock 1 duck and 5 chickens. I did end up taking my Runner to the vet for meds then I did the surgery myself. @DucksOhio never feel like God hates you! When dealing with animals there just seems there are going to be problems. Those feet on our ducks aren’t very tough. And probably if we walked around all day barefooted we’d more than likely have issues too. So just take a deep breathe and get some pics posted tomorrow . Very sorry about you cat. Now could your KC that’s weak have gotten into anything toxic?

Thank you so much!
Yes, it looks like a small pimple, but I’m seeing some raised inflamatory above her foot. The antibiotics seem to be worthless in this case.

My ducks free range, but their nighttime home is a small barn. I clean wet and poopy straw out every single day. I will certainly look for anything sharp.

Oh my gosh...a single staple can cause that much harm ?
The inflammation above June's foot may be due to her favoring it and putting it down wrong. Think of how you would walk with a splinter in your foot!
And the staple that was found hadn't done a lot of damage except puncture a tiny hole in the webbing. For the rest of her life, that foot "spouted" when she went through a puddle. It was hysterical! If I recall correctly, I think her new name became "Bubbles!"

@DucksOhio Of my six ducklings which I got last spring, every single one has had a problem. Puddles had splay leg and a small episode of bumble foot. Last October Penny had a weird wound on her skin - beeding and missing feathers- I took her to the vet half a dozen times and tried every treatment imaginable over the course of 6 months. I am just now realizing that one of my other pekins, Tuppins, has been pulling feathers when I'm not around. But Penny also has some weird skin disease and currently has big yellow scabs on her neck that are starting to fall off. Tuppins had an eye infection, which was cured quickly. Most recently, all three of my welshies got bumble foot. I did the little surgery myself and was giving soaks FOREVER. I ended up putting two on antibiotics and taking one of those to the vet. Her infection, which didn't start out that bad, moved to a joint and abcessed, even after getting a doxycycline injection, and I ended up putting her down last Friday. So, I have also felt cursed with ducks and very dejected about some of their time-consuming and sad issues. I really love the ducks and they're so fun to have around, but it's not fun when they're sick or you don't know what to do with them. So I feel your pain and frustration. I don't think it's a judgement from God - just the fallen world we live in.

Maybe it's time to try chickens for awhile?

God loves you! He really does! All of us here love you too. Sometimes things just happen in "droves" and it becomes difficult to cope. Tell your husband how you feel about all the trouble and let him know you need his love right now. Take that hot bubble bath and have a glass of wine to relax. It's tough right now, but it's not because of God and it can't last! Things will work out with a little time. I'll pray for your duckies and for you. I'm sorry about the loss of your beloved cat. Remember you are beloved too! Have a good cry and then buck up for another day! :hugs

Update...

thanks everyone for all your support. The other day was awful and I really felt I was doing something wrong.

the GOOD news: the weak duck responded very well to the dose of B 12. She was moving around much better yesterday. Someone here also recommended putting the B12 in their peas, a few drops, and I am going to be consistent about doing that. Amazing.

The khaki girl with the new bumblefoot is going to the vet on Saturday. While hers still does not look too significant, I’m bracing for the reality that she might need surgery.

The cost of surgery hurts, but I am more sad to see her having to be kept in the barn during this nice weather. I takes a month after surgery before they can go outside per my vet.

Sugar, the recovery Welshie, will be at the vet on the 29th for final exam.

Finally, my cat Zoe, will be euthanized on Friday. Very sad, but it’s her time and she had a good long life with me.

THANK YOU again for all your wonderful support!!

I'm glad your mood is a tad bit better! I'm so sorry for your cat. I had a cat that lived with me for 20 years, but she was quite miserable at the end and crying. I held her and kissed her while euthanasia was administered. It's hard, but nothing and nobody gets out of this world alive. I'm so sorry for your loss. You are lucky that you even have a Vet to help with your ducks. We live in the country, everyone has livestock, but no Vet will see chickens or ducks here. Why? I donno. I'm praying for you, please push on and remember you are valuable, you are loved, you are important! Have a good day! :hugs
