Can i ask why you think feather eating is related to calcium shortage?Thankyou, everybody for your kind comments...I am blessed!
Thankyou Delisha for sharing pics of your big babies.....very cute....could the feather eating be because of lack of calcium?
Feather picking is usually protein, bordome, or no room. Not much calcium in feathers. I have been doing more activity things in the barn too. Hanging cabbage and things like that. They miss going outside. They do not like the snow and cold rain so they have been staying in.Itsjust something one of the old timers told me once that if a chicken is picking out feathers and eating them that there is not enough calcium in their diet. I have no idea if there is any truth to it or not.....actually iwas hoping you coucould tell me.....I do notice that feeding all organic fermented that I still need to supplement with oyster shells just to make sure.....I have one hen that her egg shells are just slightly sandpapery......I've been adding black oil sunflowers to the FF...what do you think? The other hens eggs are perfect. Is there something that I'm missing?![]()
lol..I had a blue chick that was a little odd too last spring....anytime he would get excited he would spin in little circles as fast as he could....he seems to have outgrown it....I guess there's one in every family..lol....
