Golden Comet question

I just recently hatched some of these and ended up with 18 females im just wondering if they are good egg layers?

They are excellent layers and give a pretty large egg for their rather smallish size.

about 5-6 months they are breed from RIR and leghorns I believe both start laying around then and are steady hearty chickens I have 2 and they both lay a dull or mat (sp?) pretty brown/almost mauve egg.

I recently bought 12 of these at TSC and was wondering if they breed true. I got 10 pullets and 2 roo's.

i bought 2 from the assorted pullets bin at TSC and is it true that the hens will have strips down their back????

Yes, I was told they were the pullets. I hope so or I have 10 roo's and 2 pullets. I won't be a happy camper. I was told the roosters are the plain yellow ones.

That's good cuz i probably already have to many roo's in the brooder and i need more hens!

To answer some of your questions:

1. There are several combinations that can be used to make red/gold sex-links. RIR and Leghorns being one of them.

and

2. No, sex-links do not breed pure as they are crosses themselves.
