We’ve been working on a larger run for our golden pheasant pair, our workspace and bird space is the garage. They’ve gotten fairly chill with the idea of people, assuming they can see you and you don’t do anything unexpected (like come through a different door!). But as we were working on the frame, the male ducked down in a corner and sat there ‘whimpering’ like a dog afraid of fireworks, I couldn’t figure out what was wrong as we weren’t bothering him at all and the quail were completely fine (but they are pretty oblivious!). Then I figured out he doesn’t like the drill, to a high strung bird those high pitched noises must be rather irksome! Poor guy, who knew pheasants prefer hand tools! Maybe he’s an Amish pheasant?
