Goldie gets to try to hatch

Just a journal of how -Goldie- our monthly broody 6 day jailer, gets to try hatching her own eggs. We only gave her four. And maybe it will help her demeanor. We are at wits end with her so hubby thought we could try.

Put them under her today (was waiting for another egg from Beardie, as her eggs had visible bullseye's so here's to hoping)

If nothing seems to develop (if I can see) then we'll go from there. She seems super happy now though that we've let her sit. And the last two days she's been getting out once a day to take care of business.

Day 6? They are a darker egg but I'm not sure any are viable. Will leave them for a few more days. If all else fails we'll try chicks in a couple weeks lol

Yes and no to being won over. Posted to sell her and no one wanted her and regardless if I want to wring her neck I just couldn't (although she made me want to figure out how my great grandma killed roosters in one grab n snap lol)

I will say though, this week of her sitting, she's been calmer, not as raptory or pecky. Let's us pick her up, move her, pet her with no issues.

So, I haven't updated this, Goldie is still sitting, her first ones were duds and that weekend I was able to her her others. Well, I have a thread on them as we used the incubator as well as her.

Have her situated in pen with two eggs as of now. Have a couple days left to go. Fingers crossed!

She has been better mannered since sitting lol although I'm sure she'll still be a handful with her sisters

Goldie's got them out already! Granted, Mama hatched both of her clutches in winter (Dec/Mar) so she always stayed in nest longer.
