Just any good advice for someone quiting smoking cold turkey for the millionth time? I know money health and i do think its disgusting smells. Its just hard and dont help dh smokes and will just hand me one when im being a meany lol.

"Mommy of 2 youngins"--you want to see them grow up and get married, and then you want to spoil your grandchildren. You can do this! It will not be easy, and your husband has to realize the importance and get on board about this. I quit drinking- that took the first try. I quit chewing tobacco 100 times (more or less) it took on the 100th time. There are on line support groups that can help in this process. You need a positive reinforcing group to help you through this.

Bought me a No.7 E-Cig (like the one in The Tourist)... still trying to wean myself over to it totally though... my routine is to smoke and read in the garage... and when I go out the dogs go do their business... feels weird to be reading indoors, and the dogs schedule being thrown off hasn't been all that fun... but I'm getting there.

The only advice I can offer is for your sweetie; handing you one when you are being a meany is not helping anyone and even causes hard feelings because of the lack of support. Instead of handing you one, tell him he needs to walk away and take it with him. The only thing that will make you successful is you. You have to be ready and in the right frame of mind and believe you can do it. Only you can make you quit.

good luck to you, it takes a lot of guts to even consider trying. I've never smoked a day in my life but my whole family has and my son has fallen to the temtpation and it's really hurting his health and he's only 19.

A good friend of mine had been a smoker for years, drank heavily & used cocaine for about 5 years. One day, she said she woke up & decided to quit everything because she decided she didn't want to live that life anymore --and it only took the one decision for alcohol & cocaine. Smoking, on the other hand, took her MULTIPLE tries. She said it was a daily process & she tried not to look at herself as a failure if she had to have one or two to get her through the day. It's been 10 years & she said sometimes she still has to remind herself NOT to buy cigarettes when she's in a gas station. Good luck & stay strong. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Thanks. Smoking is the only thing ive been so hooked on. I wasnt a great teen and college...least the kids got me outta that. Just this smoking. I always feel better breathe better and everything. But the urge gets bad and i cant just walk out cuz of the kids. I hate being overly snappy at em cuz of it too.

I have smoked heavily for 33yrs. I tried all of the high failure products/techniques out there. 1 month and 3 days ago when My e-cig arrived I haven't touched a real cigarette. Didn't even want to light up after the 2nd morning(only awakening craving). Sure I'm still getting some of the nicotine but I have gotten away from the poisons of tobacco smoke. I can wean myself down from the nicotine at my own pace. The DW and the DD have also not had one either. I knew from the first puff of this thing that I actually have a chance this time.

We all started out with the Ultimate Ultimatum starter kits from Vapor4Life. I have since upgraded to the Go-go. There is a great forum with lots of help and support by folks sharing their experiences with the e-cig AKA personal vaporizer(ecf.com). These are meant to be an alternative to smoking but folks are finding out that they can be a successful cessation tool. The FDA tried to ban them but a judge shot them down, it was appealed, shot down again. Inconclusive testing and results by the FDA was used in trying to ban them. Back when the federal government almost shut down a few weeks ago the parts of the FDA that were to remain open were 100% funded by Big Tobacco and Big Pharmacy. Hmmmm, Makes you wonder who really wants to ban them. My own doctor was ecstatic and wants more information to help others. He knows what a struggle it has been for me. I even demonstrated it for him.

Good Luck to anyone trying to quit. No I will not turn into one of those high and mighty non/ex smoker elitist with the little fake cough, cough. Lord knows there's enough of them.

i know you said cold turkey, but the patches really do work. the nice thing about them also is that it totally breaks the habit, because you're not even pretending to smoke. and you CAN NOT smoke once you put a patch on, because you can overdose yourself and have immediate strokes etc, so the fear factor keeps you from actually lighting up. the product recommends doing step 1 for 6 weeks (3 boxes' worth), but my roommate only needed one box and stepped down. they're pricey but since you aren't buying a pack of cigarettes every day, it really isn't nearly as expensive as it seems. anyway, hope this helps.
