good books

I really enjoyed The Tao of Equus by Linda Kohanov. The subtitle is "A Woman's Journey of Healing and Transformation through the Way of the Horse"

I second the nomination of "Watership Down."

Another good series is called "Guardians of Ga'Hoole." It's a series for younger kids, but it's an easy read and good story with themes along the lines of Brave New World but with animals. The series is about owls.

The Redwall series absolutely rocks. I've been reading those since middle school. I'm now almost 27, but when a new one comes out, I always go get it and read it for some light, fun reading (which I can later recommend to students).

oooooo ! i have a good one that im in the middle of reading, its got kinda a wierd taste, but i like it so far, its a good one! its called the Dun Cow i dont remember who its by... but it got an award and the new york times says it belongs on the shelf with "the lord of the rings".... so its good

yeah its really good! its got lots of nice detail , i didnt really understand it in the begining, but once i cought on to the authors writing style eveything made sence

its got some funny stuff, some sad stuff, some creepy stuff, some scary stuff, and some love stuff.. im almost done with it.

"The Egg & I", by Betty MacDonald

is another unforgettable classic. If you have ever heard of Ma & Pa Kettle, this book is where those hilarious classic characters hale from. It is a story about a woman who blithely (or blindly, lol) follows her husband into the wilderness, in the middle of nowhere, to chicken farm. It is set in the 1920's, & is a fairly fast read. I would put it at highschool level, or slightly above.

Betty MacDonald also wrote "The Plague & I", "Onions in the Stew", & "Anybody Can Do Anything".

She has such a dry, biting wit, & she manages to find humour in the funniest, most mundane things. I guarantee you will enjoy her books. Teenagers will love them, adults will guffaw out loud & cherish them.
