Hi,
I am pretty new, and still trying to figure out what breeds to use. East Central Florida is super hot in summer and mild humid winters.
I want mainly eggs, personality (good temperaments) and beautiful colors.
I was wondering if you could recommend some breeds. I have a couple of other people who are also starting in my area, so we could always share purchases.
I'm looking at some blue self ameraucana and cream legbars from Smith. I have some EE and a couple of Australorps (love how curious these are). Tia

Hi,
I'm in Florida too & my mixed flock all did ok this summer with plenty of shade, fresh cool water & a fan.
However, my 3 welsummers & 2 Columbian wyandottes seemed to have the hardest time on the hottest days and several times I had to bring individual pullets into the air conditioning for a day or two.
My black minorca by far handled the hot weather the best.
Good luck with your new flock!
