Good Incubators?

I did my first hatch with a still air incubator. Started with 11 eggs ended up with 7 healthy chicks. I lost 1 due to it going bad and smelling...not sure what happened. 2 were not fertile, and had one quitter. I was impressed with it being my first hatch. Being a newbie hatcher, I would recommend an incubator with a fan..just helps keep the overall temp the same. And unless you are going to be doing lots of eggs (20 or more) at once....I prefer to hand turn. It gives me that extra opportunity to candle. As for candling I seen a post about using an LED flash light, and I totally agree. Harbor Freight has ones you can get with any purchase for free...it is what I use and I can see chicks moving, veins..everything.

I know I made this thread a while ago but... as my hobby started to turn into a small business my Brinsea Octagon 20 that I had didnt quite have the capacity I needed so I did end up getting 2 Hovabator Genesis. All three of them are great incubators, I'd recommend them to anyone!

As this is my first hatch, the jury is still out on mine lol Will let you know how we go after they hatch :)
So far, it has reset itself once, temp wise :( But other than that, it's been pretty good.
It's a 24 egg automatic digital incubator by P&I Technology in China.

That's what I bought, not overly happy with it. They say that the temp etc is already preset, but mine wasn't, it was sitting on 27c :(
I tried contacting them about it as they say don't touch the settings and it took 2 days before they contacted me. By then I had already changed the settings. :)
I find the water dries out way too quick. My chicks were due yesterday and still nothing.
I don't know, maybe it's just trial and error.
The unit itself is nice and tidy. But there is no hygrometer to tell exact humidity, had to buy one

Sorry guys, I forgot to update how my Hovabators have been doing for me. Out of 14 eggs set, 11 hatched, so I'm pretty happy! The only thing I would say about them is to be careful about leaving the chicks in the bator too long because of the wire bottom for, but that goes for any incubator.

The P&I 24 egg incubator has definitely proved me wrong :)
6 gorgeous chicks all up so far, one is pipping and looks like 2 are dormant.
Other than the water drying up really quickly, it seems to have a great success rate :)

Could someone with the P&I Incubator please tell me how to set it. I just got mine, but the manual reads like stereo instructions, and I'm not sure about setting the high and low temps.

OK, I think I've actually got it now - The secret lies in reading "Set High Temperature" as "Increase Temperature", and "Set Low Temperature" as "Decrease Temperature" I realised I'm not setting two different temps, just the one. :)

So it's been on for about 1 hour, and is maintaining a nice 98.8℉ - I set the 'AL' setting to 1℉, and it's been reading 98.8℉ ever since. I set the turning to 30min, but will increase it to 90min when the Coturnix eggs are in, and then see how they go.

BTW: What does the 'CA' setting do?

Cheers,
Rob.
