Fans can be useful if you can run a cord out there.
They can also be fire hazards.
Best to get one that's rated for barn use, but @aart has an article on how to install a household fan more safely.

Thank you.My coops and runs get shade from close by trees. When the temperatures soar I let the chickens out to free range earlier in the day. They usually gather in the shade of a large bush in the yard and spend a lot of time dust bathing. I keep their water fresh and in the shade, in an attempt to keep it cooler. I also offer vegetables with a lot of water content.
Thank you.More shade! Remember that the shade shifts with the sun, maybe put something on the west side of the run so it's shaded in the hottest part of the day. If it's not humid, misters or hose down the run to dampen the earth. Pools are great if your hens use it, mine won't. Fans can be useful if you can run a cord out there. Good luck, we are getting some very hot days here too.
I have 2 different ones(3rd option has a mister) made by Ryobi that run on cord or their 18v tool batteries. It's their newer hybrid line of work items. We felt the cord was too risky, so I'm currently rotating around 4 batteries and will be acquiring 2 larger ones so less charging and more runtime. They are meant for work environments but I will still be taking a can of duster to blow out the motor weekly.Fans can be useful if you can run a cord out there.
Thank you.I also live in Texas, we're under heat advisory right now. It will go up to 103F today. My chickens keep under the bushes, their run is shaded and I lightly water the sand inside so they can bathe in cool damp sand. I give them water with electrolytes. Their waterers are also placed in the shade. In the heat of the day, I spray cool water outside on the grass so they can walk on wet grass to cool their feet. If only I could convince them to get in the pans with water to cool their feet which helps a lot but only few do that.
Thank You.
Thank you.We have a misting stick that we set up when the hens are out of the coop and the temps are very high. When the hens are free ranging, we open both doors of the roosting area so it is getting a breeze, and don't close it until the sun goes down.
I'm checking on birds every hour.
Thank You.
A bit intense for me. It's like 1929 over here on the farm.![]()
