We just ordered new baby chicks that are 4 days old. I noticed that she'd have her right eye closed all the time but I left it alone until it started getting watery and swollen. I've been taking care of it by wiping it with a warm cloth and applying neosporin on it daily but I don't know if I should do more? She's happy and well, she eats, drinks, chirps, and all. I think the others pecked at her because she has a raw spot on her back (and her eye) so I have her in a separate box to give it a chance to heal.

Good idea to separate her out. What kind of bedding are they on? Did she come like this or did you notice after she'd been in the brooder a while?

After a few days I noticed she'd been closing her eye a little. They are on newspaper right now, I usually put in cedar chips or bedding but I read that they might eat it when they're younger. Her eye is looking a whole lot better today because of the neosporin I think. Should I do anything else to it to speed up the healing process? Thank you :)

I just hatched 20 chicks, and one seems to be having the same problem yours does with the gooey eye. It's still eating, drinking, and pooping, so I cleaned it's eye to see if it helps. I'm planning on using the tea bag method for it. :)
