i just have a egg incubation question for all types of eggs can you use sharpies to mark them i am afraid to use a sharpie due to the alcohl in the liquid. please let me know

if you use sharpies use the newer kind that doesn't stink to high heaven

I've used sharpies for years and havent found that it has any affect on the hatch rate. Any egg you mark with pencil and then put under a hen/goose - the marks definitely wear off!

Well, it appears my dewlap flock unexpectedly expanded this afternoon. A couple in my neighborhood got five goslings from me two years ago. They are going through some serious personal problems and asked if I could take their geese. So, here they are, settling into their new place. The couple got them from me as straight run and never did figure out gender. Based on vocals and personality, I am sure there are four girls and one boy.

Gorgeous! They never gave them any eggs?

Maybe because they are still young not all of them were laying. Still Thats one more laying than i have with my pair of regular toulouse.
I love those pudgy bodies .
I have to ask this and i promise im not completely stupid but do they swim as well as the others? By looking at them they look like they would sink lol

I bet they are all laying, but the lady didn't really know one from the other. They free ranged so easy for them to hide eggs, especially when the people didn't really pay attention to that kind of thing.

Funny stuff about swimming. They swim just fine, but are not as agile on challenging terrain. They also do not have the desire to travel far distances and pretty lazy.

That is ridiculous, how could someone not be interested in them after getting them. Enough to not know if they are laying and where. I guess not everyone is cut out to be goose parents.
When mine are out im with them which is all day everyday, only times im not is when im checking on my mom and making her meals. It wouldnt surprise my neighbors much if one day i flipped my lid and was out with the geese on all fours with a fork and a bottle vinegarette dressing grazing with them lol
