Honestly I wasn't sure so looked it up this is what I found.

While chickens and turkeys possess a crop, geese do not have one.

So I guess other than losing weight you'll have to watch to see if she is being allowed to eat.

Just read your post and I think the answer is to your crop question is 'yes' and 'no'. Really helpful, aren't I...lol !!!
I don't think geese have an actual crop, per se, but I believe that they do have an area off the esophagus that expands kinda like a little balloon...(I know, sounds like a crop, huh...lol !!!). What the difference is, IDK. I think it might just be anatomical.

Got a few pics of mine this afternoon..then my dh let the dogs out in the driveway and the geese decided to go back inside the fence.


Sam my 7yr old Embden gander Babe and Toots will be 5 months old on the 29th of Oct.

So far, haven't seen her eat. When I put them away tonight, I'll put food with her (they are separate at night from the Sebastopol as of last night) and see if she chows down.

Do they ever form pairs with the other breed if there are 2 breeds together?

I would say yes, My Embden is paired with my 2.5 yr old Toulouse and I am not sure whats going to happen with the other 2 since my Embden is already mating with the Buff and not sure yet if the Toulouse is gander or goose but my Embden isn't interested in mating with that one although he is still very protective of hm/her as he is the 2 I know are girls.

My Buff is going into all the stalls noodling in the shavings makes me think she may lay an egg they have been mating since first of OCT.

Thanks serv. I love that lil one. well i love them all but she has one of the sweetest personalities .. okay no comment on Babe? still not sure on sex. Sam and babe get into the pool together all the time but Sam only has eyes for Toots the Buff since Missy isn't interested in mating right now.

I have not seen any romantic action. Seems I have a Buff and a Toulouse that stick together.
She will not eat when he's around, like always. When she tries to grab a bite to eat, she keeps looking around and finally gives up. So I put food and water in with her pen, and the dude and his wife are in a separate pen divided by hardware cloth.
