I went to bed at midnight. I checked the last egg and there was still a sign of some blood veins. I wet it with warm water, wrapped it in the paper towel and closed the lid. I was hoping it would hatch out during the night. It peeped loudly then got quiet and went to sleep.
When I got up this morning it was exactly the same as when I left it.
Only the peep was very very faint. The egg was completly dried out. I dribbled warm water on it. In a matter of less than 30 seconds the gosling pushed its way out of the egg.
Its wing was stuck to its head and the shell was stuck to its back. I dribbled more warm water over the baby to unstick the wings and the shell on back.
I took the syringe with warm water and wet the babies bone dry little body.
It started curling up in the fetal position it was in while in the egg.
The last time I checked it was breathing deeper and more steady. I don't know if this one will make it. It was very weak this morning when it made it out of that dry shell.
On a brighter note - here are the two babies from yesterday. All dry and fluffy.
My first goose hatch ever - 2nd pip, 1st hatch
Based on previous information I am going with the idea that both of these are girls.
When does the black leave their beaks and turn all orange? I expected the orangey beaks from hatch.
I'll get photos of the last baby when it dries off. It appears to be getting stronger and is throwing itself around in the bator.
