Goose going broody without any eggs??

well my other goose was till laying eggs and laied enough for a good amount, does anyone know a limit to how many eggs a goose can handle and can they handle duck eggs or are they to heavy. My goose took the eggs eagerly. and i candled them tonight and already little veiny embroys with a heartbeat. she is a very calm goose she doesnt try to bite at all. she just sits their being a little disturbed by me handling her eggs but just quickly nudges them back under her. i have 5 eggs under her wasnt sure how many she could handle her first clutch. all were fertile wow i was surprised. my male has been doing a good job. I have found it easier to get them to mate if i fill up the kiddy pool for them and they jump right in and get it done. lol my female often trys to mount my gander. silly.

and now guess what she has also gone broody i hate it i want her to lay more eggs why can't the be laying machines. she layierd her nest with her own down. I dont know about you guys but it seems that is the sign of a goose going broody. again no eggs in the nest. in a dog kennel that i put straw in. So i am talking a local person that their goose isnt going broody with 9 eggs wow. so i offered to put fresh eggs under my goose and letting them have a few of the babies. they agreed.
I think 5 is a good number to start with especially a first timer.

yeah thats what i thought about.
Hi blueraven...good not to push it with her. You never know, if she doesn´t take to her goslings at first (it can happen), you may have to look after goslings for a bit, and the more you have the harder it´ll be!!

But, of course, same goes for her....keep it easier the first time, then next time she´ll know what she´s doing.

Hope all goes well.

update on the geese I finally got my other female out of the broody behavior by moving her kennel in the shack to another postion. my goose is still on the eggs only lost one eggs that was infertile i believe but all are growing. should hatch next week fingers crossed. and the other goose has started laying again.

My goose is sitting on eggs that aren't fertile. Do you know if I take some baby geese to her if she will take them as if she hatched them??

I have no idea i would give it a try if they are a week old but i never tried it as this is my first year with domestic geese i got mine last year in may.
