I have been using eqyss microtek on our injured gosling. Also used it on the tummy buttons of a few runner ducklings. It worked really well, and no orange bellies either!

They make shampoo, spray and gel. We use it personally, use it on our dogs, and now using it on the poultry with good results. I used the gel on our chicken with prolapsed vent and pecked neck and also on the gosling. Cannot find ingredients on my gel, but on the spray it has....

I think its more of an anti-microbial cleanser and would only recommend Iodine dry powder or even a spot of Iodine liquid to a navel.

So how do you brood your goslings? I've used cardboard boxes, Rubbermaid Tubs, kiddie pools, wooden lizard cages, a neighbor's coop, my horse trailer....

Hi there

After about 12 hours in the incubator they go into a rearing unit which is about 48 inches long, 30 inches wide and 36 inches high. This is made of MDF, a reconstituted sheet of wood with a washable surface. At one end an infra-red lamp (250 Watt) is hung approx 30 inches above the floor. The flooring is laid with sheets of newspaper and then topped with anti-slip silicone matting. This has always prevented spraddle leg and is replaced daily as it is easily washable. A soft toy is placed under the lamp for emotional well-being.

At the opposite end we place a bowl of Waterfowl Starter Crumbs and a shallow bowl of water with pebbles in to prevent young goslings getting stuck or soaked. They tend to bask for one day then become adventurous on day 2 when they start to sample the food. We give them a bowl of chopped grass and dandelions daily to supplement. The stay there for 1 - 2 weeks depending on numbers but it always gets them off to a good start.
