Goose limping

The vet wants me to give whichever one Lucy will take easily so I am giving her the tablets. Neither of them are specifically designed for use in water however mixing the liquid medication with water would be the only way I could give it to her. Since they are the same antibiotic I was just wondering if I should give her both the liquid and tablets to give her a higher dose. I wasn’t sure what the highest dose was for waterfowl though or if this would work.

Last time I checked she was 7.9 pounds. I will weigh her again in the morning to make sure.

Only just stumbled across this thread now. When fighting secondary infections (septic bumblefoot) with my gander after corrective bone surgery, our vet had us use penicillin via injection. 1.2cc 2x per day into breast muscle for 5 days. Your goose would get .8cc (.1 cc per lb)

Good luck!!

I weighed her today and yes she is still 7.9 pounds. I would definitely like to try those antibiotics you all mentioned. Does anyone know where I could get them without having to go back to the vet?

Hello everyone just a quick update, my vet gave me a different antibiotic for Lucy yesterday. It is called Teva-Clindamycin 150mg and is a 30 day long course. I did ask her about the other antibiotics you all suggested but she thinks it is best to try this one first. The only issue is that the tablet cannot be crushed like the last antibiotic so I have been trying to work out how to give it to her. I was going to try using a piller to get it in however the tablet is almost 2 cm long and cannot be cut in half as it is a capsule. Has anyone ever gave a goose such a large tablet. I think that it will get stuck in her neck if I try giving it to her. What do you all think?
