Goose lovers – please help!!

Lydia, the plan is to break bones in Spirit's foot and reset with hard plaster cast. I don't think Dr. Echols will attempt correction on the 90 degree rotation in leg bone, though. We won't know exactly until the day of surgery and can review current xrays.

Poor baby I sure hope this helps him walk better, I know it's got to be hard for you to have to put him through this, I didn't even know this kind of stuff was done on water fowl. I'll sure be praying for you all.

Spirit is such a fighter that she will pull through this surprisingly well. I foresee Janet buying a goose diaper harness for the winter so Spirit can be in the house some for attention and company

Good morning!!! I just woke up to emails flooding my box letting me know Lightning and Krafty have gotten their geese. Lightning's ganders are already home and looking great!!!

I also woke up to a fresh blanket of snow on the ground with more on its way.... UGH!!! My vet & farrier will be here in 30 minutes for some fun filled time with my new horse. Not looking forward to going outside in this #$%^%.

Lydia, I am very lucky that my vet is one of the few avian orthopedic surgeons in the world... because it is not common practice to do this type of procedure. But if anyone can fix Spirit, Dr. Echols can. I sure wish it was Nov 6th already and Spirit had the surgery. This morning's slick snow surface is really bad for his mobility.

I'm thankful you have him too. Snow, gosh we're having Indian Summer, at least through the rest of this week. Very dry too. Great news the geese are finally home.

My beautiful ganders, Atticus and Finch, are home and already relaxing in their pool. I took one quick picture this morning which I have attached here. I put them in a temporary pen right next to the duck pen, so they would have some feathered friends around to help them get acclimated. I promise to take more pictures later. I still need to complete the finishing touches on the goose house and get the outside painted, and then I will post some pictures of it on here.

The ladies at the post office asked me what in the world was in the two large boxes, and were very surprised when I said geese because they were so quiet.

While I am thrilled that 7 geese made it safely... I sent 8. Krafty did not mention it, but the littlest grey girl (the one everyone knows was my favorite), did not survive the trip. I'd like to take a moment to send condolences to Krafty and personally grieve for her passing. She was very precious to me.
