I am so sorry to hear that the little girl did not survive the trip. I know how hard that must be on you Janet having cared for her all this time. Geese tend to be so hardy that we often forget how much stress shipping a bird can truly be and that things can and do go wrong. I am glad all of the other geese made the trip safely. My codolences to you and Krafty for the loss of the little grey girl.

J, I am so sorry to hear about the lil one not making it, My sympathy to you all.

Thank you for your sentiments. I am taking the news pretty hard. I sent 30 geese out. 29 made it just fine. Somehow my favorite one didn't. Sometimes, life has a way of sucker punching you so hard it sucks the air out of you.

It appears that she may have been smushed by the larger gander.

As for the vet/farrier visit..... it is 8am, 30 degrees, light snow falling on 2" fresh snow/muck... and we are out there in that #$%$#. Vet orally sedates which takes 45 minutes to take effect and does ultrasound on belly.... sees nothing. So she iv tranqs and palpates rectally.... feels nothing. My new mare is not pregnant. Probably never was, but it sure feels like I lost a baby foal this morning. On the bright side, my farrier did an excellent job on her feet and both my vet and farrier were pleased with her temperament. She is a wonderful horse.

aawwww that totally sucks with a big ole S. Guessing they just assumed she was bred since she was running in a pasture with a stallion?

again sucks about the grey goose too. Somedays just need to have a total do over.

I talked to the seller afterward, who was also disappointed, and he said he would talk to breeder this evening to find out how she was supposedly confirmed in foal. I seriously doubt I would breed her though.

Lightning, how are things with your ganders? Are they awesome?

While I am thrilled that 7 geese made it safely... I sent 8. Krafty did not mention it, but the littlest grey girl (the one everyone knows was my favorite), did not survive the trip. I'd like to take a moment to send condolences to Krafty and personally grieve for her passing. She was very precious to me.
Iain, I am so sorry. I guess she just loved you too much to leave you.

I'm glad you have a wonderful horse, and I'm sorry she wasn't preganent. If you do ever decide to breed her, at least the choice is yours, as stated earlier. Otherwise, you can plan a day trip now!
