its super fast and not expensive Marty. 20-24 per sample depending on how many you do. The chest feathers are where they ask you to pluck and they never even flinch. Two or three feathers making sure you dont touch the tips. No shed/molted feathers, freshly plucked is what they need. You will have to band and or otherwise ID each bird to ID the sample when sent in for test results.

Marty, so sorry to hear about your buff!! Hope he will be ok!!! Sounds like you are getting good help on the buff thread. I just returned from the vet's office as Spirit had a complication develop with the inside support rod. It was digging into the flesh on the underside of his hip joint (reminds me of an arm pit area), had rubbed himself raw, and was hurting him. So, they cut off the end of the top horizontal pin and the top of the inside rod to give him more room. He already appears more comfortable.

Hope its all downhill from here.

He is calmer. Still very wet and cool, so I've temporarily covered him to his neck in an old torn silk sheet-just one layer. Moved the water closer again. Still moving head rather sporatically.

Still can't figure out why he wanted in the water so bad. Seems very odd decision on part of goose to me. (does he want it to be "safe" out in the water while he's sick? Is he hiding from something? Are my ganders fighting?)

Oh Marty I am so sorry for your goose. I jsut can't seem to think what I would do if I found one so bad off. Well thier ya go I have become very attached to my geese. I have no kids so all my animals have become my children. It was so funny tonite that George (Troulouse with some sort of growth under beek) was chasing after the bunny that lives in the pasture in front of the barn. When I told him to stop that and that he (bunny) had a right to be there to, he stopped and gave me a loud honk and continued. I just couldn't help myself and dropped to the ground and started laughing my a**off. My child was back talking to me and all I could do wa laugh.

Best of luck with you and your goose. May he have a quick come back to health.

Thanks. I really hope this was the simple fix for Spirit and he will rebound soon, as he quickly went downhill the past 2 days.

Marty, hope your buff recovers by tomorrow!!
